What is the Newsfeed?
The Newsfeed is a communication feed built into Nory. It gives you one place to talk to your team, whether you are coordinating the day, sharing an urgent notice or celebrating a win.
It works on both desktop and the Nory team mobile app.
Where to find it
On desktop the Newsfeed sits at the top of the side navigation panel.
On the mobile app it is in the tab bar.
Newsfeed or chat?
The Newsfeed is for one to many announcements to a group. For one to one or group conversations, use Nory's chat functionality instead.
Newsfeed permissions
Access to the Newsfeed is controlled by permissions and the locations you have access to.
There are 4 permissions:
View newsfeed: see the feed for the locations, departments, franchises and groups you have access to.
Create posts: write and publish posts, and edit or delete your own.
Comment and react: comment on posts and add reactions.
Moderate newsfeed: edit or delete other people's posts and delete other people's comments, within the locations you have access to.
Note: Users cannot see, or post to, a location, department, franchise or group they do not have access to.
How to use the newsfeed
How to post and choose your audience
Who can do this: anyone with the create posts permission.
Open the Newsfeed.
Select Create post.
Write your message and add any links or attachments or mentions.
Choose your audience. You can target a post to:
Brand-wide or to a specific location or franchise/location group.
One or more departments.
⚠️ Note: You can pick several of the same type, for example three locations at once, but you cannot mix types in a single post (for example a location and a franchise together).
Attachments and mentions
Attachments: add up to 10 files per post. You can attach images, videos and PDFs. If a file will not upload, it may be too large, so try reducing its size first.
Individual file max sizes are:
Images: 15MB
Videos: 200MB
PDFs: 25MB
Mentions: tag an employee in a post to bring it to their attention.
Comments, reactions and locking comments
React: add a reaction to a post or comment from the available set (heart, thumbs up, thumbs down, sad, celebrate, laugh and thanks).
Comment: add a comment to a post. Comments are flat, which means you reply to the post itself, not to another comment.
Lock comments: if you do not want replies on a post, you can lock its comments.
Urgent posts and read confirmations
For messages everyone must read, mark a post as urgent and ask people to confirm they have seen it.
Create your post as usual.
Mark it as urgent and turn on read confirmation.
Post it to your chosen audience.
Recipients confirm they have seen the post (by swiping to confirm).
You will be able to see how many people have confirmed they have read your post.
💡 Tip: use urgent posts for must-read notices such as a last minute rota change or a safety update.
Moderating posts and comments
Who can do this: anyone with the moderate newsfeed permission.
Moderators can edit or delete other people's posts and delete other people's comments, within the locations they have access to. This can be particularly useful for inappropriate content being posted by users.
All users can always edit or delete their own posts.
