Who this is for: anyone who has been blocked by a permission message in Nory. You cannot switch permissions on for yourself. An Admin on your account does it, and only an Admin can change someone's permission level.
What the error means
If Nory shows you a message saying you do not have permission, your account is working normally. The specific permission that controls that action is switched off on your profile, or you do not have access to that location.
Nothing is broken and you do not need to log a bug. You need an Admin on your account to switch the permission on.
Which permission do I need?
Find what you were trying to do when the message appeared, then ask your Admin for the permission in the right-hand column.
You were trying to... | Ask your Admin for |
Open Orders, or place an order | Can access inventory management, then Can place and manage purchase orders |
Open anything in inventory | Can access inventory management. This one is needed before any other inventory permission will work |
Start or complete a stock count | Can access inventory management |
Reopen or edit a completed stock count | Can edit stock counts |
Edit or delete an invoice | Can edit invoices |
Receive a delivery | Can receive and manage goods received notes |
See or edit someone's wage | Can see and edit employee wages. What you can then see still depends on your permission level |
Add a new employee | Can see and edit employee wages |
Approve timecards | Can approve timecards |
Edit a timecard more than 30 days old | Can override timecards cut off |
Approve a schedule | Can approve schedule |
Lock or unlock a schedule for payroll | Can lock schedules, or Can unlock schedules |
Approve a holiday request | Can receive and approve holiday requests |
Upload a document to someone's profile | Can see and upload employee documents |
Export employee data | Can export employee data |
Change someone else's permissions | Can edit permissions for users |
The full list is in Permissions in Nory.
The permission is switched on and I still cannot do it
Work through these in order.
Log out and back in. Permission changes only take effect on a fresh session.
Check your location access. On your profile, under Has access to, the location you are working in has to be listed. A permission only applies at the locations you can access.
Check the prerequisite. For anything in inventory, Can access inventory management has to be on first.
Check your permission level. Some things are limited by level as well as by permission. Wage visibility is the main one, and only an Admin can change someone's level.
Try the other platform. Some features are only on the desktop app, for example sending notifications about changes to a published schedule, turning a shift into an open shift, and approving timecards in bulk. Clocking in and out is only on the Nory Team app.
Can I give myself the permission?
No. You cannot edit your own permissions, even if you have Can edit permissions for users. Ask an Admin on your account to make the change.
If you are the only Admin, or no one on your account can make the change, contact Support.
Still blocked?
Contact Support with:
the name and email of the person affected
the location they are working in
what they were trying to do
the exact wording of the message, or a screenshot of it
whether they have already logged out and back in
