Nory forecasts your sales automatically. If you know something the forecast does not, such as a local event or a large pre-order, you can override it.
You can edit the forecast amount for a whole day, or hour by hour. Every edit needs a reason, and Nory uses those reasons to improve future forecasts.
Who can do this: You can make forecast edits from the Schedule page or the Sales insights page.
Where to open the forecast drawer
All forecast edits happen in the same drawer. Accessed from either the Schedule or Sales page.
Four ways to open it from the Schedule page:
Click the three dots next to Manage schedule, then select Adjust sales forecast.
Or click the sales forecast figure in any day column of the schedule table.
Or click the pencil icon next to Sales in the first column.
When viewing a single day's schedule, you can click the hourly cost row.
One way to open it from the Sales insights page:
Click Edit Forecast in the top right of the Sales and orders tile, above the Sales v Forecast graph.
Editing a whole week
The drawer opens on the week view, headed with the week you are editing. At the top it shows three figures:
Nory forecast: what Nory predicted for the week
Updated forecast: the total once your edits are applied
Difference: the gap between the two, shown in both currency and percentage
Under Quick edit the days you get a row for each day, showing Nory's forecast, an editable Forecast (new) field, and the difference.
To change a day:
Type a new figure into the Forecast (new) field for that day, or click -10% or +10% to step the figure up or down against Nory's forecast.
Select a reason: Weather, Local event or sports, Pre-order/booking, Promotion running, or Other. A reason is required, and Save stays greyed out until you choose one.
Click Save.
Once a day has been edited, its difference shows as a percentage, the Forecast (new) field greys out, and a reset arrow appears at the end of the row.
Editing a single day
To work on one day at a time:
Click the arrow at the end of that day's row, or select the day letter (M, T, W, T, F, S, S) at the top of the drawer.
The drawer switches to the single day view, showing the date and the hours it covers.
Use the arrows at the top to move between days, or click See full week to go back to the week view.
In the single day view you choose between two tabs:
Adjust day forecast — sets one total for the whole day
Adjust hourly forecast — sets a figure for each individual hour
Setting a day total is an alternative to adjusting hours, not an addition to it. If a day total is set, it must first be removed before editing individual hours for that day, and vice versa.
Editing individual hours
Use the hourly view when you know when in the day the demand will land, rather than only how much of it there will be.
In the single day view, select Adjust hourly forecast.
You get a row for each hour of the day, showing Nory's forecast for that hour and an editable Forecast (new) field.
Enter a figure, or use -10% and +10% on that row.
Select a reason and click Save.
Hours you have not edited stay as Nory forecasted, and any new forecast will be reflected in those hours. The ones you changed are fixed.
Resetting a forecast
Forecast edits can be reset for the whole week, a single day, or a single hour. A reset returns the figure to Nory's original forecast.
Reset all, at the top of the drawer, clears every edit in the week if you are on the week view, and the day if viewing an individual day.
The reset arrow at the end of a day row clears that day's edit.
The reset arrow at the end of an hour row clears that hour's edit.
Why forecast edits matter
Your Cost of Labour (COL) percentage is calculated against forecast sales, so changing the forecast changes your labour target for that day. If you are expecting a much busier day than Nory predicts, editing the forecast keeps your labour target realistic.
You can hover over the forecast total for a day in the schedule view to see the total number of edits for that day.
