What this permission allows
With "Can add and edit inventory storage areas", a user can:
Assign an existing storage area to an item
Re-assign an item to another storage area
See all information inventory items and batches, but cannot edit inventory items, batches or recipes.
This permission allows users to change storage area assignments only for their assigned locations.

Who can have this permission?
“Can add and edit inventory storage areas” can be assigned to any user (Employee, Supervisor etc) as long as they have Inventory Permissions
Only Admins can assign this permission, and it must be done one person at a time.
To add the “Can add and edit inventory storage areas” permission, navigate to:
Schedule and Workforce
People
Click on the User name
Permission Level: Any
Can access inventory management features: Toggle true
Can edit storage areas: Toggle true
Why this matters
For location teams: This makes it easier to adapt layouts, correct mislabeled areas, or keep things organized during stock takes and remodels- without waiting on Ops or Admins.
For Ops teams: It reduces repetitive requests, removes bottlenecks, and provides clearer permission boundaries that can scale across multiple teams and locations.
Questions
Does this permission let users change inventory items?
No. Users can view all information on items and batches, not edit them.
Who should get this permission?
Typically, location managers or trusted team members who handle layout and organization. Don't assign this permission if you don't want the team member to see price information on items or batches.
Can I assign this permission in bulk?
Not at this time- Admins must assign it individually.
Can users create new Storage Areas?
Not at this time- Admins must create storage areas first.
