Why should you record your waste?
π‘ Waste is an unavoidable part of running a food or drinks business. Accurately tracking waste will ensure that you know where your stock is going and highlight and work on problem areas you have in your business.
π‘ Recording waste will provide you with accurate results when looking at the variances in your inventory counts. It will also save you time spent on rechecking counts for stock that is not there.
π‘ Recording waste will help inform ordering trends and help streamline ordering to prevent additional waste.
Recording waste
Select the Inventory icon from the bottom bar.
Select waste from the menu bar.
Make sure you have selected the correct location.
Add a new waste entry by selecting log waste.
Use the drop-down to select the category of item that you want to waste.
π‘ All items = a list of all items batches and recipes
Items = a list of items as you receive them from the supplier
Menu items = a list of recipes as they are served to the customer
Batch items = a list of items created as a batch
Use the search bar to find the item you want to record waste for. Select the item from the drop down list.
Enter the quantity wasted and choose a reason from the drop down menu.
Click Log item to log the waste entry.
Once you have logged all waste items and reviewed your entries click continue to complete waste entry.
Review the waste entry and amend the date as necessary.
Click confirm to register the waste entries
The items are now recorded as waste.
π‘ Waste data can be tracked and analysed tracked through the waste insights page, reconciliation report and waste tabs on the web app.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues accessing the "Waste" section, ensure you have the appropriate permissions to view it.
If the "Can edit waste" permission is not visible, verify with your admin whether your account is appropriately set up. By following these guidelines, you can effectively check and edit waste entries in Nory, keeping your inventory data accurate and up-to-date.
Editing Waste Entries
If you need to make changes to an existing waste entry, follow these steps:
Open the "Waste" section as described above.
Locate and click on the waste entry you wish to edit.
Make the necessary changes to the entry fields.
Save the updated waste entry.
Permissions Requirement
To edit waste entries, you must have the "Can edit waste" permission. If you do not see the option to edit:
Contact a manager or admin in your organization.
Request that they grant you the required permission. Admins can manage user permissions by navigating to the "User Permissions" section in settings and enabling the "Can edit waste" option for your user role.
Checking Waste Records
To view the waste entries logged in Nory:
Navigate to the "Count & Waste" section in your Nory dashboard.
Select "Waste" to open the list of all logged waste entries.
Review the entries to get an overview of logged waste. This feature is accessible to all users with baseline permissions in Nory.
