Creating a Batch Recipe in Nory

Create a batch recipe in Nory to account for items made in bulk to be sold in smaller portions or used as a component in other recipes

Navigate to batch recipes by clicking on the inventory icon from the side bar.

Click on batches in the menu bar.

Click on add recipe.

Give the batch recipe a name.

💡 It’s good practice to keeps item names consistent across your brand calling a batch item “white sauce” on a recipe card but “bechamel” in Nory will cause confusion.

Now add the yield (amount of the product the batch will make).

💡 When considering the measurement of a batch, it is important to determine the most suitable unit of measurement for accuracy. While one option is to measure the batch in litres (l), an alternative approach would be to weigh the container in which it is stored. By using kilograms (kg) as the preferred unit of measurement, more precise and accurate results can be obtained.

Now you can start to add the ingredients, type the ingredient name in the search bar and select the item from the drop down menu.

Then add the quantity of that ingredient used in the recipe, the cost will be automatically calculated based on the information entered when the item was created.

When all of the items are entered the recipe cost is calculated in the top right hand side of the screen.

Assign the batch to a storage area, choose the storage area(s) from the drop down menu.

💡 Assign the batch to all areas that it will be stored in to help make you inventory count as smooth as possible.

Add a unit size to count in.

Add the counting options, allowing multiple counting options can help with counting.

💡 In this example the bechamel sauce can be counted as an entire batch of 5kg and by 1kg for smaller amounts.

Click add recipe.

The batch is now ready to be used in a recipe and can be counted as part of your inventory.
