Nory Team relies on your phone’s location to clock you in and out of a shift. For this to work, you need to enable Location Permissions.
Allowing Nory Team to use your location
The app asks you to do it the first time you use it:
Tapping on the button will bring up the permissions dialog. Choose "Allow while using the app" to let Nory Team read your location when clocking you in and out of shifts.
Please remember that Nory Team doesn’t read your location at any other time nor does it store it anywhere.
Changing location permissions in Settings
If you are experiencing difficulty clocking in, check the location permissions in your phone settings. Those should look like this:
Clock in tips
Sometimes, the Nory Team app might alert you that you can’t clock in. This can happen for a variety of reasons:
Permissions
You might need to adjust your phone’s location permissions in Settings location – choose “While using the app” and save your changes.
Also, make sure to allow Nory Team to use your precise location.
Distance from the restaurant
You won’t be able to clock in if Nory Team locates you away from the restaurant. Move closer to the restaurant and try again, or use the handy tips below to increase your phone’s location accuracy.
Location accuracy
Sometimes, your phone may have trouble locating you and Nory Team may not be able to clock you in for a shift.
Luckily, there are a few things you can do to increase the accuracy of your phone’s location services:
Connect to the restaurant WiFi
Make sure you’ve got a mobile data connection
Clock in from a place where mobile signal is stronger
It may take a little while for your phone to connect with the GPS satellite network. Following those tips greatly increases the phone GPS accuracy and makes the clock-in process smooth.
Troubleshooting for clock-in issues
Employees unable to clock In via mobile devices
This issue can occur when the system is configured to restrict clock-ins to certain methods, such as a kiosk-only mode.
Solution:
Go to your Nory dashboard settings and verify the clock-in configurations. If only kiosk clock-ins are enabled, update the settings to also allow mobile clock-ins.
How to Update Clock-In Settings:
Navigate to the 'Settings' section in the Nory application.
Locate the 'Clock-In Methods' or equivalent configuration item.
Enable mobile clock-in access for employees.
Save your changes.
This should resolve the issue and allow employees to punch in using their smartphones.
Clock-ins and multiple shifts
When two or more shifts with identical start and end times exist in the system, clock-ins will typically be assigned to the shift that was created first. This can cause clock-in data to be misrecorded, leading to incorrect assignments.
Solution:
Detect and address conflicting shifts:
Identify shifts with overlapping times in the scheduling system.
Remove or modify the earlier-created (and incorrect) shift, thereby ensuring clock-ins are assigned to the correct one.
To avoid these issues in the future, ensure each shift has a unique identifier or different timings.
By managing shift configurations carefully, you can minimize cases where clock-ins are misassigned.
Best practices to prevent clock-in issues
Avoid creating shifts with identical start and end times to reduce conflicts in clock-in assignments.
Provide training to managers and employees on the proper use of clock-in methods and how to correct errors when they occur.
