What is EDI and how do I set it up with my supplier?

How EDI connects Nory to your suppliers, which suppliers are available and how to get it switched on.

Written by Sasha Lucinschi

EDI (electronic data interchange) connects Nory directly to some of your suppliers. Once it's switched on, orders you place in Nory go straight to the supplier. For some suppliers, their invoices also come into Nory automatically.

What does EDI do?

  • Orders: when you place an order with an EDI supplier in Nory, it's sent to them electronically. You don't need to email or call it through.

  • Invoices (selected suppliers): the supplier's invoice comes into Nory automatically, exactly as the supplier issued it. Invoices aren't available by EDI for every supplier yet. Your Account Manager can tell you whether your supplier includes them.

EDI invoices are imported exactly as the supplier sends them. Nory doesn't check them against your original order, so review and approve them as you normally would.

Which suppliers can I connect with EDI?

EDI is available with selected suppliers, including Hunts Food Group. To see which suppliers are available, ask your Account Manager or check the integration marketplace.

If your supplier isn't available yet, speak to your Account Manager. We can check whether the supplier supports EDI.

How do I get EDI set up?

EDI isn't something you can switch on yourself. To get started:

  1. Speak to your Account Manager, or message Support and ask for EDI with your supplier.

  2. We'll tell you what's needed for your supplier. Every supplier is different, so the setup requirements are different for each one.

  3. We'll switch EDI on for your locations and let you know when it's live.

Until EDI is live for your sites, keep ordering from that supplier as you do today.

What changes once EDI is live?

  • Every order you place with that supplier in Nory is sent to them for real. Don't place test orders with an EDI supplier.

  • Depending on what your supplier needs, Nory may send your order by both EDI and email. This is set up for you and also acts as a backup if EDI fails. You don't need to send the order yourself.

  • You still receive deliveries and approve invoices in Nory as normal.

Troubleshooting

My supplier says they didn't get my order. Contact Support with the order number, location and supplier, and we'll check the EDI log.

An EDI invoice is missing. First check with your supplier that the invoice was sent, as there are several reasons it might not have been. If the supplier confirms it was sent, contact Support with the invoice reference and order reference so we can investigate.

An EDI invoice doesn't match my order. EDI invoices show exactly what the supplier invoiced. Raise any differences with your supplier, as you would with a paper or emailed invoice.
