Setting up Nory tips
First, make sure with your Nory account manager that your POS does collect tips and is able to share this data with Nory (list of POS available here).
Navigate to your location settings. At the bottom of the settings list, hit the ✏️ icon to edit.
You can then enable the collection and distribution of tips
When enabled, tips (and service charge for UK brands) will be automatically collected from your POS and distributed according to your selected distribution method. Nory supports both equal and custom points distribution of tips.

If you want to distribute tips based on points, add the rules to define the distribution. You can decide to distribute tips based on the department/position/tenure of your employees.
Once you have added all your distribution rules, click save.
Every employee earns points based on the rules you define. The more points they have, the larger their share of the tips.
Think of it as building a score for each person.
The system automatically calculates each person’s proportion based on the total points across the team.
Example: Department Points + Tenure Bonus
Let’s start with the department point rules:
Management = 1.20 points
FOH = 1.50 points
BOH = 1.30 points
Now we add an additional rule:
Tenure over 2 years = 1.30 points
If an employee is from the FOH department and has 3 years of tenure: he gets 2.80 total points. Another employee from the FOH department with 6 months of tenure: gets 1.50.
If in the future you need to change the distribution rules, you can go to your location settings and proceed to updates. You will be able to track updates on the tips distribution directly from the settings.
For custom points, the default is one point which is the standard repartition for everyone.
The default setting is for all employees to receive tips if the feature is enabled. If you want to exclude an employee from tip allocation click on their name on the left-hand side of the screen. Select the role tab.
Under Tips entitlement use the toggle to switch entitlements on/off for that employee.
You can also add a bonus multiplier per employee if you wish to reward an employee in particular by distributing more tips to them.
Using Nory Tips
Once Nory Tips is enabled, select the date range in which you would like to see the service charge detail using the date picker at the top of the screen.
Nory will display the tips per employee per day of the week selected. Totals are shown in the last 2 columns.
💡Nory will distribute the tips (figures taken directly from your POS) based on the number of hours worked in the day and the rules you have set.
Use the Hours/Tips toggle in the bottom left-hand corner to switch between the hours worked and tips earned values in the day columns.
The gross tips amount will then be enabled in the Team app so employees can see the gross amount of tips they can expect to be paid along with gross earnings.
If an employee wants to learn more about their expected tips earned they can click on the gross tips amount where an explainer is displayed and also a link to open shifts to encourage them to request an open shift and earn more.
