Unit labels and reporting preferences

Each inventory item can have its counting units customised — controlling how your team counts the item during stock takes and how the data appears in reports. This is set per item in the item's profile.

Setting counting units

Click the inventory icon from the sidebar.

Select the item you want to update from the list, or use the search bar.

In the item profile, scroll to the Stock count section at the bottom of the screen.

Use the checkboxes on the left to select which units your team can count this item in. You can enable multiple units — for example, allowing an item to be counted by the case and by the individual unit.

💡Tip: Making counting units consistent with how items are delivered and stored helps avoid counting errors. For example, if a product always arrives in cases of 12, making the case a counting option speeds up stock counts.

Use the Use in reports? dropdown to set how the unit is labelled when your team counts it. For example, you might want "750ml bottle" to display simply as "bottle" during a count.

Setting reporting preferences

Use the toggles in the Use in reports column to control which counting units appear in your inventory reports and reconciliation data. Toggle on the units you want included, and off any you don't.

Important: Changes to reporting preferences only affect future inventory counts — they will not update data from counts that have already been completed.
