Connecting Nory to Xero

Nory integrates with Xero so your approved supplier invoices and credit notes sync automatically as Bills Payable — no manual re-entry needed.

How it works

  1. Connect your account — In Nory, go to your integrations settings and authorise the connection to Xero. You'll choose whether all your locations connect to one Xero organisation, or whether each location connects to its own.

  2. Match your setup

    • Nominal codes: Set your nominal codes in Nory under Business Settings → Accounting so they match the Chart of Accounts codes in Xero.

    • Suppliers: Supplier names in Nory must match your contacts in Xero. New suppliers are created automatically in Xero the first time you sync a bill for them.

  3. Sync invoices — Once an invoice is approved in Nory, select Sync to Xero from the invoice menu. You'll get a confirmation once it's synced, and it will appear in Xero under Business → Bills to Pay.

  4. Track by location — Each bill is tagged with a Xero Tracking Category for its branch, so you can run a "Spend by Tracking Category" report in Xero to see totals per site.

Good to know

  • Invoices sync into Xero as drafts — you'll need to approve them in Xero to finalise.

  • If a customer or location needs multiple Nory sites feeding into a single Xero organisation, let us know when setting up — this needs to be configured on connection and isn't automatic.

Troubleshooting: invoice won't sync?

The most common causes are:

Issue

Fix

Supplier name doesn't match

Check the supplier name is identical in Nory and Xero

Customer/contact missing or mis-named

Add or correct the contact in Xero

Nominal code not mapped

Make sure the category's nominal code exists and matches in both systems

If invoices still aren't syncing after checking the above, reach out to support with the invoice reference and we'll investigate.

VAT and rounding

Nory applies a default VAT rate when pushing bills to Xero. If your actual VAT charges vary by supplier or bill, please review synced entries in Xero to ensure accuracy. We're aware of occasional rounding differences on export and are actively working on improvements — flag any discrepancies to support so we can track them
