5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can I use the Nory web app on my phone's browser instead of installing the mobile app?

Yes. The Nory web app at app.nory.ai is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. However, certain features β€” such as push notifications, camera-based document scanning, geolocation-based clock-in, and offline data caching β€” are only available through the native mobile apps. For the best mobile experience, we recommend installing the appropriate app from the App Store or Google Play.

Q2: My device meets the minimum OS version but the app runs slowly. What should I do?

The minimum OS versions represent the lowest supported threshold, not the recommended experience. For optimal performance, we recommend running iOS 16+ or Android 12+, having at least 2 GB of RAM, and ensuring you have the latest app version installed. Additionally, close other memory-intensive apps and ensure your device has at least 200 MB of free storage.

Q3: Do I need a dedicated internet connection for the Nory Kiosk, or can it share the restaurant's public Wi-Fi?

We strongly recommend a separate, private network for operational devices (kiosks, management tablets). Sharing a public guest Wi-Fi network exposes the system to bandwidth contention during peak hours and potential security risks. If a separate network is not feasible, ensure your router supports bandwidth prioritisation (QoS) and allocate sufficient bandwidth to Nory devices.

Q4: Which browser should I use for the best experience on desktop?

Google Chrome (latest version) is our recommended browser. It consistently provides the best performance and compatibility with the Nory platform. Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) and Firefox are also fully supported. Safari is supported but may occasionally lag behind in rendering certain UI components due to differences in how WebKit handles modern CSS features.

Q5: Are Chromebooks or low-cost Android tablets supported?

Chromebooks can access the Nory web app through the Chrome browser and are fully supported for browser-based use. For the Kiosk App or Management App on Android tablets, ensure the device runs Android 7.0 or later (Android 5.1 for Kiosk only), has at least 2 GB of RAM, and a screen size of 7 inches or larger. Budget tablets from brands such as Samsung Galaxy Tab A or Lenovo Tab M series work well for kiosk and inventory operations.

For further assistance, reach out to Nory support via the in-app chat (Intercom) or contact your dedicated account manager.
