It's that day of the week that you create next week's schedule. A blank calendar stares you in the face. At Nory our mission has always been to make scheduling smarter and easier and our Templates feature does exactly that!

Quite often the staffing needs of the restaurant won’t change from one week to the next. With Templates you can now copy last week's schedule into this week. Maybe this week is a bank holiday and you want to copy a similar roster from the last bank holiday. With Templates you can also go back to any previous week, copy the shifts in a roster and paste them into a new schedule.

Copying last week’s schedule

When you click onto a new week you will now see an option at the top “Use previous week”.

Click on “Use previous week” to view last week's schedule. You will now see last week’s schedule in the Positions view and you can save it as a template to reuse later.

You can also see the key schedule information about the template, such as the planned labour cost and your sales forecast for that week..

If you are happy with the proposed shifts and costs, you give your template a name and click Save.

You will now see this shift template has been saved.

Select the week you want to create a schedule for using the calendar at the top of the page.

You can now select the template you have saved on the right hand side.

You will now see all of the template’s shifts have been assigned to Open shifts.

You can now assign these open shifts to the staff members you wish to complete each shift. This can be done in a number of ways:

  • By dragging the shift and dropping it onto the person’s lane

  • By clicking on the open shift’s pencil icon and selecting the correct staff member from the dropdown

  • By clicking on the shift tile and selecting a Team Member from the quick edit dropdown

  • By dragging and dropping names of Team members onto shifts

Once you complete assigning the shifts to each staff member you will have a perfectly filled schedule, in line with your labour targets.

Making a templates from any past schedule

You can also make a template from a schedule for any other week. Maybe you want to copy the schedule of Christmas week last year or maybe it's a Bank Holiday and you know your staffing needs will be very similar? Nory’s got you covered.

To copy the schedule from a specific week go to the calendar at the top of the page and select a week.

Then, click on the templates icon above the schedule

You can now see the schedule as a template.

If you are happy with the schedule, you can then name the template and save it.

You will now see the template has been saved alongside your other templates.

To apply this template, go back to the week you are creating a schedule for and click on your newly-saved template.

Your open shifts are now loaded and you can fill each shift using a method of your choice.
